All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

God gives us a mission
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The book of James talks about living out our faith. and being a doer, not just a hearer of the Word. I’ve heard Pastor Tim describe faith as taking God seriously. With this in mind, God tells us in James that we need to be cautious about trying to please both man and God. As Christians, we have but one allegiance. We have Christ in our name as a reminder that we are identified by Him. Because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf, when God looks at us, he sees Christ: Jesus’s righteousness imputed to us, even though we are sinners. Even though our flesh and humanity are weak, and we still sin, as recipients of God’s forgiveness, He chooses to actively forget our sin and declare us righteous. This means we are different. We shouldn’t blend in.

God calls us to risk
What is it in your life that you are cherishing that separates you from God? What false comfort is it that you are clinging to for your false sense of security and significance? God calls each one of us to risk it all: to know Him, to obey Him. In God alone is our security and our significance. He alone can meet every need we have. He alone can provide us with eternal security. What will you risk for the mission God has given you to fulfill? What risk is too great for you to take?

God promises His blessing
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade–kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
